The UAB Heersink School of Medicine Montgomery Regional Medical Campus opened its doors to the next generation of healthcare professionals on Saturday, April 18 with its Pre‑Med Immersion Day, a hands‑on educational experience designed exclusively for high school seniors exploring careers in medicine.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., students engaged in a full‑day workshop that offered a rare opportunity to step directly into the world of medicine. Participants worked alongside current UAB medical students, physicians, and admissions experts as they gained practical skills, explored clinical environments, and learned what it takes to pursue a future in medicine.
Program Highlights
-BLS Certification for all participants
-Suturing workshop led by UAB medical students
-Guided tour of a working hospital
-Direct conversations with physicians, current medical students, and the campus Admissions Director
-Resume‑building insights for college and pre‑med pathways
“Pre‑Med Immersion Day gives motivated students a chance to experience medicine up close,” said program organizers at the UAB Montgomery Regional Campus. “We want to empower young people with the knowledge, confidence, and mentorship they need to pursue careers that make a difference.”
