Both programs are established collaboratively with the Marnix E. Heersink Institute for Biomedical Innovation.

The AI in Medicine Graduate Certificate emphasizes the practical application and integration of artificial intelligence principles and tools. Students learn to design and implement effective approaches for improving people’s health through greater precision in predictive modeling, improved diagnostics, and other advances.

The M.S. in AI in Medicine program—the first of its kind in the Southeast—will examine the evolving intersection of data science, machine learning, and medicine, from the foundations of AI in health care to emerging trends. The integrated curriculum is developed in collaboration with the UAB Schools of Engineering, Business, and Health Professions and the College of Arts and Sciences. The M.S. in AI in Medicine program will welcome its first cohort in spring 2025.
