Tiffani Maycock, D.O., associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and director of the UAB Selma Family Medicine Residency Program, has been awarded the 2022 Dean’s Excellence Award in Service.

In part one of the Heersink School of Medicine’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion’s Black History Month series, the Department of Family and Community Medicine discusses a program helping students to understand the history of racism in medicine and to create better patient experiences and healthier communities going forward.
Eric Wallace, M.D., UAB medical director of Telehealth and associate professor in the Division of Nephrology, was recently nominated and selected as the 2021 Community Star of Alabama by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health. Wallace will be honored on National Rural Health Day on Nov. 18 for his vast efforts in telehealth and innovation across the state of Alabama.
To contribute to the ongoing effort to vaccinate all Alabamians, Equal Access Alabama partnered with several organizations, including Alabama Statewide Area Health Education Centers Program, to deliver vaccines to underserved rural areas by going door to door with doses.
