The UAB Department of Neurosurgery recently participated in the 2019 Magic City Cycliad, a cancer awareness bicycling event sponsored by the Deep South Cancer Foundation.
Cyclists took to several different routes – ranging from 10 miles to 100 miles – in and around Birmingham, all while raising money for cancer patients.
All of the funds raised by the event will go to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB.
UAB Neurosurgery’s 18-person team raised more than $5,700 at the Cycliad, which was the sixth-highest amount raised by any team participating in the event. Clinical Care Coordinator Tracy Rouse, R.N., raised the most of anyone from the Department of Neurosurgery team, bringing in more than $1,500 through roughly 40 donors.
