Libby Hancock, a pediatric neurosurgery patient at Children's of Alabama, was born with cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. As part of her therapy, Hancock began learning needlepoint at age 9.
COA neurosurgeon and Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery Director Jeffrey Blount, M.D., has treated Hancock since 2012, performing 10 of her surgeries at Children's. After seven years as one of Blount's patients, Hancock said she wanted to thank her doctor for his care and compassion with a gift.
In an emotionally moving exchange, documented by COA in January for a video the organization recently shared on their Facebook page, Hancock presented Blount with a needlepoint angel that she created herself.
