UAB Department of Neurosurgery PGY7 Resident James Mooney, M.D., recently received the McCravey Clinical Science Award for his abstract, “Identifying Risk Factors for Adverse Surgical Outcomes Following Lumbar Disc Arthroplasty: A Multi-institutional Analysis Of 473 Patients.”
Mooney presented his award-winning abstract at the Southern Neurosurgical Society (SNS) Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL, on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
This work was supported by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)/Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Joint Spine Section Stewart B. Dunsker Award, which provided Mooney a $15,000 grant supporting clinical research related to evaluating lumbar disc arthroplasty.
The McCravey Clinical Science Award, given annually by the SNS, was established in 1990 to honor the late Augustus McCravey, M.D., through a gift from the McCravey family.
Mooney also presented his abstract at the annual Spine Summit meeting held in Las Vegas, NV, in February 2024.
