Ashley Setters joins the UAB Department of Neurosurgery as an administrative office specialist IV.
Ashley Setters is an eccentric, fun-loving mother of two teenage boys. Her university experience allowed her to see a variety of programs, with the most unique being at the University of Cambridge, where she had the opportunity to grow her passion for British medieval history right where it happened.
Setters has spent most of her career doing administrative work in various industries, but this is her first role in healthcare. She loves spreadsheets – Excel is one of her best friends – so if you have any questions about it, don't hesitate to ask her.
Setters has been dancing since she could walk and started teaching dance in middle school. She now owns a dance studio in West Birmingham, but it’s been closed since COVID-19 began. She has choreographed and directed everything from small local pieces to national traveling shows. She also loves reading, riding horses and sewing, but her favorite pastime is medievalism. Every few weekends, Setters garbs herself in medieval clothing and goes to events where she lives a medieval lifestyle of camping, teaching classes about medieval arts and sciences, dancing and sword fighting.
