On Jan. 8, 2024, the University of Alabama at Birmingham welcomed Elizabeth McRae, Ph.D., as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery.

McRae joins the department from the University of Alabama Department of Psychology and Autism Spectrum Disorders Clinic.

Before completing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, McRae earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Francis Marion University.

In her role, McRae will serve as a pediatric clinical psychologist in the department’s Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery.

“I believe Dr. McRae will be an impactful addition to our department and am thrilled to have her on our team.” says James Garber Galbraith Endowed Chair of Neurosurgery and Department of Neurosurgery Professor James Markert, M.D., MPH. “This is an exciting time of growth for our Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery.”
