Sarah Kammerud and Melissa Burch recently joined the UAB Department of Neurosurgery. 
Kammerud joins the department as the lab manager for the Van Meir research lab. Kammerud began her research career at UAB in January 2000, shortly after graduating from Auburn University. She has spent most of her time at UAB working in labs that focus on breast cancer research. In her free time, Kammerud enjoys spending time with her two kids and their dog, Abby, and making treats to share with friends.

Burch joins the department as an intern from the UAB Health Care Management (HCM) program. She has a passion for health care management and experience working as a massage therapist in an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. Burch is excited to be pursuing her lifelong dream of completing her college degree. Outside of work, Burch enjoys lifting weights at the gym and hanging out with her friends. When she’s not spending time outdoors hiking and kayaking, you can find Burch at home cooking and watching sci-fi television.
