On May 7, 2024, the UAB Department of Neurosurgery hosted a celebration for National Nurses Week, honoring the many important roles nurses perform.
Each year, National Nurses Week is observed across the nation beginning on May 6 and ending on May 12.
While UAB Medicine provided various activities, treats and recognition opportunities to acknowledge the hard work of nurses across the hospital, the Department of Neurosurgery wanted to take this a step further.
Leaders in the department’s chair’s office, operating room, Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s of Alabama and the Neurosurgery Clinic in Neurosciences One at the Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital coordinated and delivered 96 boxed lunches from Chicken Salad Chick to our nursing staff and those who work alongside them in related roles.
“We hope this brightened their week and let them know how valued they are as individuals,” said Administrative Assistant Tricia Daniel. “It is a reminder to us all what a critical part they bring to fulfilling our overarching mission of caring for the sick of the community.”
To the nurses in the UAB Department of Neurosurgery and beyond:
Your selfless service and tireless efforts make a profound difference in the lives of patients and their families. Thank you for your hard work, resilience and determination to provide exceptional care. Your impact inspires those around you.
