Dr. Jasmine Thum, an Austin, Texas, native, joined the department from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she completed a neurosurgical fellowship.

Before training at UCSF, Dr. Thum completed her neurosurgical residency at the University of California, Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine and earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School..

Dr. Thum is a surgeon-scientist, specializing in functional neurosurgery and primarily performing epilepsy, deep brain stimulation (DBS) and peripheral nerve cases.

Throughout her training, Dr. Thum published several peer-reviewed papers, presented at national and international conferences and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, neuroscientists and clinicians. She is committed to enhancing medical student and resident education in neurosurgery through mentoring, teaching and leadership roles.
