Rocque’s research focuses on improving the experience of pediatric neurosurgery for patients and families. This includes understanding the distress of a new diagnosis, understanding the psychosocial factors that may affect response to treatment and the effects of medical traumatic stress on patients and families. The goal of his research is to optimize the support that patients and families receive during pediatric neurosurgical care. Current projects include a study of the effects of traumatic stress and resilience on children with hydrocephalus and their families, a systematic approach to improving transition to adult care, and work to understand which children are most likely to benefit from Chiari I decompression surgery.
