ED ECMO and ECPR
UAB is at the forefront of this emerging scientific advancement in the management of circulatory collapse and cardiac arrest. We have partnered with the Departments of Cardiology, Critical Care, and Cardiothoracic Surgery to bring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to the Emergency Department. We join other major institutions around the world who are taking this innovative approach to transform the care of cardiac arrest, a move which has demonstrated significant potential to improve survival outcomes in an area that has largely been stagnant for decades.
