The Department of Medicine is pleased to recognize Ellen Lazarre, CRNP, as a recipient of the 2024 Winter DOM STAR Award for Staff Excellence.

Lazarre, the inaugural Advanced Practice Provider (APP) manager for both the Division of Hematology and Oncology, and Radiation Oncology, has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication in managing nearly 60 APPs.

Nominators praised Lazarre for her servant leadership, her ability to inspire and support her team, and her commitment to the growth and development of the APP community.

"Ellen is the epitome of a servant leader," says Kelly Godby, M.D., a nominator. "She is approachable, supportive, and constantly motivates her team to be their best selves."

Lazarre’s manager role includes overseeing three APP supervisors and managing various teams across inpatient and outpatient services. Her work in onboarding new staff members, managing clinical schedules, and collaborating with medical faculty has earned her widespread respect. Lazarre is also noted for her willingness to step in and provide clinical coverage when needed, demonstrating her commitment to both leadership and patient care.

Her leadership style emphasizes collaboration, communication, and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued. Lazarre’s contributions extend beyond her managerial duties, as she continues to lead by example, inspiring those around her with a positive attitude and dedication to excellence.
