The following are monthly updates from the UAB Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Education Division.
Pain Medicine
Dr. Eric Lee completed the Fellows’ Program at the ASRA Annual Pain Medicine Meeting.
At the same conference, Dr. Mary Andrews presented a poster titled “Pediatric CRPS: Navigating Diagnosis and Treatment Challenges – A Clinical Case Study.”
Congratulations!
Our simulation team and current CA-2 residents completed the CA-2 Trauma Bootcamp. This program helps prepare our residents for the important task of assuming senior trauma call in January.
Dr. Lee Ann Riesenberg and her team have a new publication in Anesthesia & Analgesia titled “Handoff Mnemonics Used in Perioperative Handoff Intervention Studies: A Systematic Review.” This manuscript included a third-year UAB medical student, Sarah Fuller, who completed MSSRP with Dr. Riesenberg and is applying for anesthesiology; a graduate student in Human Factors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Emma O’Hagan; and two faculty members who are part of the APSF Multicenter Handoff Collaborative (MHC).
Thank you!
Thanks to Victoria Elison and Dr. Blake Norman for the critical task of completing the semiannual Clinical Competency Committee’s work.
The task of resident applicant interviews will be completed by the end of December. Thanks to all faculty, residents, and staff who contribute to this huge effort. Recruiting the best applicants to our program is critical to the ongoing success of our residency and department.
