Dr. Ness is currently funded by support from the National Institutes of Health, in part by his ongoing research grant entitled "Quantitative Studies of Urinary Bladder Sensation," which has been continuously funded since 1997.
As a member of the Division of Pain Medicine, Dr. Ness specializes in the treatment of urologic-gastroenterologic pain. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Ness has an extensive research portfolio focusing on multiple aspects of pain research, including the mechanisms of urologic-gastroenterologic pain, pain sensation related to exposure to toxic inhalants, and spinal cord injury.
