Are you keeping your Duo app up to date?

Users need to check that they are using version 4.85.0, or newer, of Duo. If you find that your app is running an older version, it will need to be updated by March 31. If the update is not completed, you will not be able to use the push notifications in the app to access campus resources.

“At the beginning of April, anyone who did not update their device might see a cryptic message about ‘No Internet Connection’ within the application,” said Scott Fendley, information security architect. “We need our users to be aware that not updating Duo will not be able to authenticate with push notifications.”

Ready to update? Here is how:

  • Make sure your operating system is up to date. Apple must be updated to iOS16. Android users need to be running on Android 12.
  • Next, open your devices app store.
  • Search for “Duo Mobile.”
  • Tap Update.
  • Open Duo Mobile and ensure it is working.

If you open the app store and do not see an update, you are running the most current version of Duo.

Sometimes, users cannot update their operating systems. If your phone cannot upgrade to iOS 16.0 or Android 12, you have some options:

  • Use a different device for Duo mobile (another smartphone or tablet that meets requirements).
  • Generate a one-time passcode (OTP) in the Duo Mobile app for authentication.
  • If you are using Android 8-10, you can access a special Duo Mobile build from Duo.
