Simple passwords are easy to remember, but they can lead to account compromises.
Passwords need to be long and complex. Make sure your passwords contain upper and lowercase letters, along with numbers and the occasional special character. The best ones are more than twelve characters long.
Still curious on how to make your passcode stronger? Here are some tips:
- Avoid using personal information, like pet names or alma maters.
- Create unique passwords for each account. The more variety you have, the harder it is for someone to gain access to your information.
- Use two-factor authorization. Here at UAB, we use Duo for an extra later of protection. You can use it for more than UAB related accounts- try adding your social media platforms!
- Use a password manager, like Keeper, to maintain and securely store your passwords.
