In addition to the approved AI tools widely available on campus, UAB is preparing for and piloting new AI tools for use by faculty, staff and students.
Among the solutions being studied:
- Zoom AI Companion, expected to be ready for use by faculty and staff by Aug. 5. When turned on by a meeting host, Zoom AI Companion allows meeting participants to ask an AI chatbot questions during the meeting to catch up or get action items, and also provides a meeting summary following the meeting.
- Microsoft Security Copilot, which is being tested by UAB IT’s Information Security team. Security Copilot can help speed up security incident response time, which would improve UAB IT’s ability to keep security threats at bay. The tool will be tested for 30 days.
Tools widely available for campus use include:
Tools geared toward researchers include:
- Microsoft Azure AI
- UAB local LLM
Tableau AI is available on a limited basis. Other tools being tested include Box AI and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
