UAB IT is warning faculty, staff and students to be aware of potential phishing emails from Gmail accounts, especially those offering potential jobs.
Multiple emails have been flagged through phishing reports in Outlook, particularly those originating from Gmail accounts and including surveys or job applications that ask you to include personal information including your BlazerID and password. UAB will never request your BlazerID password via a form or survey.
The University offers two approved survey tools, Qualtrics and Microsoft Forms. If you receive an email with a link to a form that is not from one of these two, be careful to inspect the sender and email's content.
Other signs to be on the lookout for when it comes to phishing email:
- Bad grammar or spelling
- URLs that don’t match
- Suspicious sender addresses
- Unusual requests
- Urgent or threatening tone
Report any suspicious emails with the Report Phishing button in Outlook, or by forwarding the email to
