As a photographer, I have never been the one to heavily edit a photo. I always strive to “catch” the moment as it is, which is why I prefer to edit in Adobe Lightroom.
Lightroom is the cousin of Photoshop. They have similar abilities, but one is simpler compared to the other. While Photoshop allows me to edit and add fun things to my photos, Lightroom lets me edit a RAW file without fear of destroying an original image. I can easily reverse anything I have done, and the image returns to normal.
Another great reason to edit with Lightroom is that it can handle large quantities of photos at once. When I go on a photoshoot, I tend to take lots of photos, and I enjoy being able to upload my whole gallery where I can weed out the duds from the day and edit my masterpieces all in one place. I can scroll through the entirety of my shots, and I can easily pick out which ones I want to send out.
These are just a few of my favorite reasons why I use Lightroom. Want to know the best part?
Presets.
Basically, they are just filters. You can create your own presets that fit your editing style so you can easily apply them after uploading your images. If you do not want to create your own, Adobe has you covered with built-in presets for any editing mood you are going for.
Creating Presets in Lightroom:
- Starting off you want to upload your photos and then select one.
- You can click on the “Auto” button in the top right corner underneath your histogram and it will automatically change the photo levels. Adjust your photo how you see fit.
- Select “Presets” next to the “Auto” button
- Click the + button at the top
- You can name the preset and now apply it to your other photos by following these steps and selecting your new preset.
