Two University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) startups were recently named as part of Alabama Inno’s 10 Startups to Watch for 2026.

The Birmingham Business Journal, parent company of Alabama Inno, named UAB startups Electric Indigo, founded by Rafael Grytz, Ph.D., and Yuva Biosciences, founded by Keshav K. “The future remains uncertain, but the startups featured on this list have demonstrated a passion and unwavering determination to carve out their paths to success,” wrote Harper Harwell, who reported the story.

Electric Indigo, which recently partnered with Birmingham-based medical technology development center Hardware Park, is working to develop new light-emitting eyewear designed to suppress the progression of myopia, or nearsightedness, in children.

Yuva Biosciences, which was created to develop products that address aging at the cellular level, was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal. The newspaper’s Buy Side, which reports on new products, featured hair restoration company BosleyMD’s Revive+ serum, which uses Yuva technology.
