As a business development analyst, Amanda serves the innovation ecosystem in multiple ways. She works with UAB startup businesses to facilitate their launch via UAB’s entrepreneurial network. Amanda is also the first point of contact in processing intellectual property disclosures while overseeing the institution’s patent portfolio. As the institutional expert on IP compliance, she is focused on building a robust program to meet the reporting obligations of invention funding, and in addition works to license a portfolio of research tools.
Amanda joined the Harbert Institute in 2017. Prior to that, she worked as an English teacher in Japan in both elementary and high school classrooms. Amanda has a background in writing, including developing marketing collateral and technical documentation. She has also lived and worked in the Netherlands. She has a B.A. in English from Samford University.
