Samuel Bharti is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and a certificate in Translation of Biomedical Innovations to Clinical Practice at UAB. He completed his bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics and has extensive knowledge of computational biology, systems biology, and bioinformatics. Before starting his Ph.D., he worked as a chief technology officer (CTO) for a FinTech startup company in India for more than a year. This experience influenced his research direction, driving him to focus on translating findings into eIective treatments, diagnostics, and interventions for patient care.
Samuel held several leadership positions during his undergraduate study. He served as a class representative and led a team of 40 international students during an internship. Currently, he is the president of the Informatics Club at UAB, a certified instructor at The Carpentries and an instructor in data and software workshops. He is also a recipient of the prestigious UAB Blazer Fellowship.
Samuel is enthusiastic about using data-driven solutions in biology and medicine, with a particular focus on rare diseases and tumor biology. Upon completion of his Ph.D. program, he plans to start his own healthcare startup to make scientific research more translational and directly impact patients' lives.
