The officers and membership of the September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2023 Faculty Senate have been determined, based on the nominations and votes made by the faculty. During September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2023, Joe March will serve as the Chair of the Faculty Senate; Karen Cropsey will serve as Chair-Elect and Kelly Hill will serve as Associate Chair. Read their candidate statements.
Faculty-Senators are elected to serve on staggered two-year terms. The change in membership will occur on September 1st. The members of the 2021-2022 Faculty Senate will meet on May 10, June 14, and August 9 (no meeting in July). The 2022-2023 Faculty Senate membership will begin its term on September 1 and have its first full Senate meeting on September 13. The 2022-2023 Faculty Senate will be made up of newly elected members and members who are in the second year of their term.
On September 1 (the term change-over date), the roster page of the Faculty Senate page will be updated and will reflect the 2022-2023 term membership, including links to each member’s bio sketch and email address.
If a seat becomes vacant during the term, the remaining Senate members from the same elections year will all move up one seat, based on number of votes received in the election, and the vacated Alternate Senator seat will be offered to the first runner-up. If they are unavailable, then the seat will be offered to the second runner-up and so on. Preliminary orientation for new-incoming Faculty Senate members will start at the May 10 Senate meeting. Full orientation will occur sometime in late-August, with the new term beginning on September 1. Current-term Officers & Senate Members will serve until September 1.
Regarding the nomination and voting webpages: The Faculty Senate Elections Committee recognizes that the existing webpages are not user friendly. The Faculty Senate has re-requested a budget to redesign both webpages, to offer a better platform for next year and going forward, that would better serve the faculty.
