“I am proud to be a part of a team that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. This award is a testament to our collective efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive community. We will continue to prioritize diversity and inclusion in everything we do,” said Parsons.

The President's Diversity Champion Award is a prestigious annual award that seeks to acknowledge individuals or groups for their outstanding efforts in creating a more diverse and inclusive UAB community through various activities or projects. The award is sponsored by the Office of the President and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The award is evaluated based on three criteria: significance, implementation, and impact. The award nominees must show how their activity or projects address essential areas of diversity like recruitment, retention, community outreach, departmental climate, or other campus diversity objectives.
“Greg’s strong leadership and advocacy in small business inclusion makes him most deserving of this fine honor,” said Demetria Scott, manager of Small Business Inclusion. "It is fitting that Greg’s contributions to local, small, and diverse businesses have been recognized before the public he so unselfishly serves. This award is to salute him for a job well done and continued success in supporting SBI and ASBA mission, values and goals,”
Scott partnered with the Office of the President and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to create this award for 2023.
