On March 16, 2020, we began implementing strategic energy conservation measures in response to UAB's Limited Business Operations. Additional measures are in process and we need your help to maximize the savings. We anticipate Building Administrators will continue to be involved and assist us in managing the status and coordinate service to each facility.
HVAC systems will operate on a limited basis. The frequency and duration of HVAC operations will depend on the building and outside air temperatures. Additionally, all non-essential lighting will be reduced.
An effective campuswide energy reduction plan is essential during this time. Maintaining an entire building during limited business operations can be expensive and inefficient. If you are assigned a work group that currently remains on campus, we ask for your help to limit costs and save energy.
Exceptions will be made for special buildings or operations where HVAC systems are needed to operate at normal temperatures, including:
- Vital research areas
- Hospital and medical facilities
- Animal care units
If there are any concerns about a facility or building that requires exception to these energy conservation measures, please call 205-934-9675 (WORK) with justification for the exemption. All requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
As this unprecedented and fluid event changes, we will continue to assess and adjust our operations as needed. Your understanding and cooperation during these difficult times is appreciated.
