Nearly a dozen students spent part of their spring break week at the Gulf Coast Symposium hosted by the University of New Orleans, bringing home three awards.

The students are members of the UAB Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Attendees included Aubrey Corbitt, Danyia Ahmad, Jada Stringer, Neci Lewis, Noor Ashouri, Lizbeth Piceno, Maddie Gardner, Abby Brown, Isabelle Dubon, Julian Magadia, and Clay Whorton as well as practioner advisor Jennifer McIntire and faculty advisor Richard Hawkins.

Students brought home three awards in Sustainable Solutions competitions, including third-place for Technical Design Proposal, second-place for Poster Presentation, and third-place Over All for Sustainable Solutions.

In addition to Sustainable Solutions, students participated in events for Surveying, Professional Paper, Concrete Beam, and the Spirit Competition.
