In March, more than 200 cardiovascular scientists, biomedical engineers and physicians from around the world attended the Fourth Annual NIH Progenitor Cell Translational Consortium (PCTC) 2018 Cardiovascular Bioengineering (CVBE) Symposium at UAB. The event was held over two days at the UAB Hill Student Center.
The uniqueness of the proposed CVBE symposium lies in its convergence of cardiovascular scientists and engineers, with the participation of top researchers in cardiovascular bioengineering and underrepresented trainees in the field. Trainees are graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in the cardiovascular sciences and biomedical engineering. The symposium also provides a forum for trainees and junior investigators to present their work in the areas of pluripotent stem cells biology, gene editing, and cardiovascular physiology in the context of heart failure as well as general topics in bioengineering.
Organizers of this meeting are Drs. Jianyi (Jay) Zhang (UAB), Tim Kamp (UW-Madison), Gangjian Qin (UAB), and Joel Berry (UAB).
