Icon Maker allows teachers and designers to create simple and reusable icons directly inside the Canvas RCE. No LTIs or desktop software required!

Based on a feature request in the Canvas community, Canvas has released a new feature allowing users to create icons within the Rich Content Editor. You can access the Rich Content Editor from Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, Classic Quizzes, and the Syllabus.
The Icons have several adjustable variables such as:
- Shape
- Color
- Size
- Text
- Image
Use Cases
Icons can be used for a multitude of reasons.
- Create custom buttons that help students navigate the course with ease
- Bring clarity to the sections of page, assignment, or discussion
- Add icons in announcements to add appealing images and consistent theme
Instructions
Canvas has made it easy to make icons. Simply go to any part of your course that has the rich content editor and click the Icon maker button. You have the option to create a new icon or choose a previously saved icon. Please visit the Canvas Icon Maker Guide for more details.
