About the Program

Are you interested in making sustainable, long-term improvements to the health and well-being of both individual patients and the general population? Our coordinated MPH/MSPAS program can give you the training you need to help treat the local and global health challenges facing our communities today.

Before you begin this program, which is offered in conjunction with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine, you must first be admitted to the UAB School of Health Professions. The School of Health Professions offers two different formats for this program, so you have flexibility in taking the MPH in conjunction with the MSPAS. As an MPH student, you will receive a strong foundation in public health that’s centered around an evidence-based public health model. In addition, you will share up to 12 credit hours of the MPH portion of the program with the MSPAS program, allowing you to complete your degree in a timely manner. Your MPH courses can also be completed online. Finally, we’ll offer you opportunities to focus additional training in areas such as healthcare organization, health behavior and program development, health policy, and many other areas of public health. For more information about the MSPAS program, visit the UAB School of Health Professions website.
