J. Whitson is the Instructional Media Specialist in the UAB Office of Learning Technologies.  In this role, J. assists instructors with classroom media strategies, content development, and production services to improve student engagement and outcomes.  He also serves as administrator of UAB’s Kaltura Media library and manages media integrations in the Canvas Learning Management System.  

J. comes to UAB with over 20 years of experience in public media producing educational and documentary content for Alabama Public Television, PBS Digital Studios, and PBS Learning Media.  He is the recipient of several Southeastern Regional Emmy, Public Media, Alabama Broadcaster, and Telly Awards. J. has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Montevallo.
