Lynn B. Gerald (PhD, MSPH, 1997) is Canyon Ranch Endowed Chair and Professor in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences, College of Public Health, at the University of Arizona.
She is also Associate Director of Clinical Research for the Asthma and Airways Disease Research Center. She is a nationally known expert in the area of asthma and community based clinical trials and has had continuous funding from NHLBI in the area of school based asthma interventions for the past 20 years. She is a winner of the College of Arts and Sciences' Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award opens a new website.
She also has extensive experience in the areas of clinical, behavioral, and epidemiological research in respiratory medicine. She currently serves as PI of the American Lung Association Asthma Clinical Research Center at the University of Arizona and PI of a NIH funded R18 that is examining the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a school based asthma program. She has also served as PI or Investigator on many multi-center clinical trial networks including:
- Investigator for the NIH funded AsthmaNet
- Investigator for the Lung Health Studies
- Investigator for the COPD Clinical Research Network
Dr. Gerald has held several leadership positions in the American Thoracic Society including serving on the Board of Directors, serving as Chair of the Behavioral Science and Health Services Research Assembly and she currently serves on the Research Advocacy Committee and as Co-Chair of the Membership Committee. She is a member of the Clinical Trials Review Standing Study Section for the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Dr. Gerald is actively involved in teaching and mentoring graduate students, fellows, and junior faculty. Currently, she is on the mentoring team for two K awards and three AHSC Career Development awards.
