Jay Irwin (PhD 2009) is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
He also holds appointments in Women's and Gender Studies at UNO, serves as the advisor for UNO's LGBTQ/Sexuality Studies Minor, and is an Associate Professor at University of Nebraska Medical Center's School of Public Health.
His research focuses on LGBT health, particularly the mental health and wellbeing of transgender individuals. He is also the Associate Director of the Midlands Sexual Health Research Collaborative. Jay is also committed to community-relevant research and partners with local community groups in constructing research projects that are relevant for local policy and social justice needs.
