Ashleigh Allgood, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She teaches healthcare quality management, Lean Six Sigma, and project management, and holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.
Her research examines how institutional reliability shapes patient behavior and health outcomes. She has been part of NCI-funded research teams studying lung cancer screening awareness and access in Alabama. Her work has been published in the Journal of Healthcare Management and Health Care Management Review.
Dr. Allgood began her career at the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation developing strategies to reduce avoidable hospitalizations among nursing facility residents. She later spent seven years as Operations Director in the Department of Health Services Administration, where she helped launch graduate programs in Healthcare Quality and Safety and Healthcare Simulation. She also serves as an Associate Scientist at UAB's Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education.
