Research Interests
My research focuses on moral and prosocial development during adolescence. I am particularly interested in adolescents' development of empathy and how being other-oriented and prosocial is influenced by parenting and social experiences. Moreover, I am interested in the roles of empathy and moral identity for individual health and emotional well-being. In a second area of interest, I am studying the concurrent and long-term effects of pubertal timing on behavioral and health outcomes from adolescence to adulthood. I am particularly interested in the distinct roles of "actual" phenotypical pubertal timing relative to chronological age and adolescents' subjective perception of their pubertal timing relative to peers.
