Career: Postdoctoral Fellow, UAB Department of PsychologyBenjamin McManus, Ph.D., is in his second year of a NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship in the Translational Research for Injury Prevention Laboratory at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His line of research focuses on injury prevention by investigating cognition, workplace organization, human factors, sleep, stress, and their interactions as risk factors for motor vehicle crashes. McManus’ work focuses on occupational populations with high workplace demands, long hours, and high risk of drowsy driving, such as commercial truck drivers and healthcare workers. McManus is a graduate of the Developmental Psychology concentration and his dissertation chair was Dr. Despina Stavrinos.
