Kayla LewisKayla Lewis is a recipient of the highly competitive Susan G. Komen Graduate Training in Disparities Research (GTDR) Grant. This award will fully support Kayla’s effort in Dr. Trygve Tollefsbol’s lab until Summer 2018. With this grant, Kayla will continue to research triple-negative breast cancer, a highly aggressive form of breast cancer that doesn’t respond well to treatment. Her focus is on making this cancer less aggressive through epigenetic modifiers.

GTDR Grants are intended to establish and/or to sustain a training program for graduate students who are seeking career dedicated to understanding and eliminating disparities in breast cancer outcomes across population groups. By providing funding to outstanding training programs, the Susan G. Komen organization seeks to ensure that a diverse pool of highly trained scientists will emerge as the next generation of leaders in the field of breast cancer research focused on disparities in breast cancer outcomes.
