Angelina Watson, a Social Work Honors student in the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Bachelor of Science in Social Work program, earned first place in the Service Learning category for Poster Presentations at the UAB Summer 2026 Expo. Watson’s honors project, Trust as Intervention: Supporting Homeless Young Adults Through Trauma-Informed Care, was completed in partnership with Youth Towers, a nonprofit organization serving young adults ages 19–26 who are experiencing homelessness. Her research examined how trust and relationship continuity can strengthen service engagement and support long-term housing stability. The award recognizes Watson’s integration of research, service-learning, and trauma-informed social work practice.
