My name is Regina (she/her). I earned my BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at UAB. I am currently a PhD student in Dr. Karolina Mukhtar’s lab at UAB where I study molecular plant biology. Specifically, I research biotic and abiotic stress of plants using Arabidopsis thaliana as a model organism. I use both genetics and cell biology approaches to help uncover the complex cascade of events plants use to withstand stress. I also love science communication and use every chance to get secondary and post-secondary students, K-12 teachers, and people in the community excited about science. In my spare time, I enjoy keeping freshwater planted aquaria, rock climbing, spelunking/caving, skateboarding, and photography.
