Lieutenant Colonel Jamaine J. Williams joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Blazer Battalion in the summer of 2023. He previously served as Executive Officer/ Assistant Professor of Military Science at Georgia Southern University, Eagle Battalion.
LTC Williams was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, and is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He graduated with his BA in Criminology from Bowling Green State University, Ohio in 1998. There, he was a four-year football letterman and completed two years in the BGSU ROTC program.
He enlisted in the military as an infantryman in 2001. After graduation from the Basic Infantryman Course, LTC Williams served as a Gunner in the 3rd Infantry Division, 3rd Brigade, 1st/15th Infantry Battalion Fort Benning, Georgia. He was later assigned as the Brigade Commander’s Personal Security Detachment squad leader. While there, he completed two combat tours to Iraq with 3ID. In 2005, LTC Williams attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Military Police Corps. In 2006, he was assigned as the Special Reaction Team Platoon Leader, 148th MP Detachment Fort Carson, Colorado. He shortly thereafter, deployed again to Iraq as the 59th MP Company Executive Officer, and later competed Rear Detachment Company Command positions for both the 59th and 110th Military Police Companies. After redeployment, LTC Williams finished the remainder of his time at Fort Carson as the Deputy Provost Marshal. Following graduation of Military Police Officer Advance Course and earning his first graduate degree, he served as an Operations Officer for the 8th Army in Seoul, Korea. While there he was selected to command the 142nd Military Police Company Yongsan, Korea in 2010. LTC Williams continued his service overseas with the United States Army Africa (USARAF) Vicenza, Italy. There, he served in multiple positions; USARAF Provost Marshal, USARAF Aide de Camp, and the Anti-terrorism Protection Officer completing 29 force protection assessments in over 30 countries in Africa. Additionally, LTC Williams deployed to Liberia as the Chief of Protection in support of Operation United Assistance’s mission to eradicate Ebola in West Africa in 2014. In 2015, he attended resident Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he completed his second graduate degree.
From 2016-2018, LTC Williams completed his key development time as the Battalion Operations Officer (S3), 10th MP Battalion Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Criminal Investigations Division (CID). After a very successful tour as the 10th MP Battalion S3; LTC Williams attended the Inspector General Course. He completed two rotations as the United States Army Cadet Command (USACC) Fort Knox, Kentucky, Chief of Inspections before transitioning as the USACC Protection G34, responsible for the COVID-19 response operation warp speed relief and monitoring.
His military awards include: the Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Commendation Medal one with “V” device three Oak Leaf Clusters; and the Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Commendation Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Medal; Iraqi Campaign Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal: Airborne Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Expert Infantryman Badge.
Education: BA in Criminology, MA in Business Security Management, MMAS in Military Strategic Studies.
LTC Williams is married to Cheryllonna Williams and has two children – daughter, Monjahla, and son, Jamaine II.
